FAQs - Registering Your Property as a Filming Location
Amazing Space is one of the UK’s most highly regarded Location Agencies, providing locations for hundreds of shoots every year.
We have a loyal client base in the film and photographic industries, but equally important are all the wonderful property owners who enjoy having film crews in their properties.
Here are some of the questions that new location owners often ask. We hope this helps you understand what might be involved in becoming a filming and photoshoot location.
What is Amazing Space looking for in potential film locations?
We are asked for an incredible array of locations every day and even we never know what we’ll be asked for next, so we are always interested in seeing new locations. The more comprehensive our location library is, then the more directors, photographers and location managers will look at the locations that we offer on our website.

How much does it cost to register my property on Amazing Space?
It’s free to register your property on Location Partnership. When a shoot is confirmed at your property we take a 20% commission from the agreed location fee.
Do I need to send professional photographs?
You don’t need to use a professional photographer. We just ask that you send us photographs that give a really good impression of your property. The better the quality of the photographs, the more likely the property is to catch the attention of potential users. Please tidy up first and take the photographs on a bright day when everywhere is looking its best.
How many photographs should I send?
We normally say that you can’t send us too many photographs (within reason). Please send photographs that show the interior and exterior of the property. Potential users need to get a feel and understanding of the whole property, so please photograph all the spaces, both inside and outside, from lots of different angles. We can then select the images that get put on our website.

What happens once I’ve registered my property with Amazing Space?
Once we’ve uploaded and keyworded all your photographs on the website, we’ll send you a link to your personalised location page, along with an Owner’s Guide which gives you detailed information about life as a Film Location.
How does Amazing Space market properties to potential users?
Amazing Space is a long-established location company that has long standing relationships with many Production Companies, Photographers and Location Managers. We’re very active in making sure that we constantly work on the SEO of our website as well as sending out regular newsletter updates about new and exciting locations to our comprehensive list of clients and users. Do I need any special insurance?
You do not require any special insurance if filming takes place at your property. The film company will provide proof of their insurance prior to any filming taking place and this will cover all eventualities arising from their shoot.
How often will my property be used for filming?
There is really no way that we can predict how often a property will be used for filming. Every brief we get is different, although there are some styles of location and some areas that get used more regularly than others. So, a huge river front apartment in London is more likely to get used than a country cottage in Wales, but this same cottage may be just perfect for a film that’s based in Bristol.
What are the typical location fees paid for film and photo shoots?
Location Fees vary according to the size of the property and the nature of the shoot. So, Films, TV Dramas and Commercials tend to be larger and pay larger fees, while Stills are smaller and pay smaller fees. As a very rough guide, editorial pays the lowest rates at around £500 a day and filming around £1000 to £1500 a day.
When will I get paid for any filming that takes place at my house?
We ask all our clients to pay the location fee and the damage deposit to Amazing Space, prior to any shoots taking place. We then hold the funds and on the successful completion of a shoot we will transfer the location fee to you and the damage deposit back to the client.

What happens when a Photographer or Production Company is interested in my property for a shoot?
We will contact you as soon as there’s an enquiry about a shoot at your property. We will give you outline details about when the shoot is, where they’d like to film, how many people might be involved and an approximate budget. At this stage you can decide that you can potentially accommodate the shoot or that you’re not available. If you are available, then the film company will probably want to come on a recce to see the location. This normally takes about an hour but is no guarantee that the filming will go ahead as they will probably be looking at two or three possible locations.
What happens when a shoot confirms my property?
We will discuss all the details of the shoot with you at length and then draw up a Location Agreement between you and the Production Company. This agreement will include dates and times, areas of your property that are being used, details about the usage of the film and location fees. Additionally, we will check that all insurances are in place and take a deposit in case of any damages.
What do I need to do when the film crew arrives?
You really just need to be around to let the film crew in and show them where to find everything. They can then get on with their busy day filming. You can then decide whether to stay at home in case the crew have any special requests, or you can just leave them to it, but be on the end of a phone just in case there are any questions.
What happens if there is any damage to the property?
We always hope that there will be no damage done to a property, but just in case, we always take a ‘Damage Deposit’ prior to any shoot. If there is any minor damage, we will use the damage deposit to pay for these repairs. In the event of more significant damage, then Production Companies may choose to make a claim from their insurance.
