Residential FAQs

How much can I earn?

Your home could earn from £100s per day for a small photo shoot up to £2,000 for filming. It depends on a range of factors including the project’s commercial value, it’s impact on the location and the length of shoot. We work on projects every day and have a unique insight into the current market rates and can advise you accordingly.

Will my property get damaged?

Occasionally accidents can happen, but our thorough location hire agreements cover all eventualities to ensure that you don’t end up being out of pocket. We also require production companies to place deposits with us for the duration of each project. All production companies must carry full public liability insurance to hire our locations.

Are there any security risks?

All data held on our secure in-house database is only accessible by Amazing Space employees. We only give your address out once we have your permission to send a client to view your property.

Our enquiry procedure is rigorous, so we wouldn’t send anyone to you without having their full contact and production details.

Also, because we’ve been in the business many years, we have longstanding relationships with the huge majority of our clients, that means we’re always working with familiar faces.

What makes a successful location?

Directors and photographers want to shoot in an authentic environment as opposed to the cost of building a studio set. Great locations don’t have to be aspirational, they can also be everyday locations.

Creatives come to our agency wanting to be inspired by the locations we have, so we seek out the dramatic and atmospheric as well.

However size is important and parking is always a crucial factor - there are so many vehicles attached to a shoot, especially filming, so this has to be a major consideration.

As a general rule we prefer to register locations within the M25. The majority of production companies are based in central London, and so travelling outside greater London increases the costs. However, if your house is further afield but unique - we will certainly consider it.

How to photograph your property

Do’s and Don’ts
• Do photograph every aspect of your property – whether you think it has potential or not! As well as your best features and details, views and exteriors are also important, such as the front and back of your house, and the road outside your home as this will help us to assess parking and access.

• Do take the photographs in a logical order, i.e. exteriors first, then the hallway, ground floor reception rooms, the staircase, bedrooms etc. And remember to take reverse shots of the rooms as well.

• Do photograph your property in good natural daylight as it will undoubtedly show off your property at its best!

Don’t recompress the images or in-bed any text in them, details can be written on the form. If you don’t have a digital camera the film can be put on to a cd by your photo developer.

• Don’t take photographs at night. Using a flash can flatten the image and does not flatter the room.

Wide angle shots are best ie taken with 28mm lens. However, should you have a 35-50mm lens we suggest you take:

Pan shots: position yourself in one corner of each of the main rooms and turn the camera vertically. Take 3 or 4 photos in a pan around the room, these can then be fitted together to create a wide shot. Then from the opposite corner take a reverse shot of the room.

Please note: the more information we have on your property the better!
